I was at the store the other day. Just Lydia and I. I dropped Chris off at work and by the time I got to the store, Lydia had fallen asleep. I thought
maybe if I get the stroller out and laid her in it, she might stay asleep for a little bit longer. So I opened the back of the Jeep and was reminded that the stroller was at the BOTTOM of the back under a toddler bed that I had just picked up from my brother. So I struggled for a good ten minutes getting it out of there, carefully took Lydia out of her seat and managed to keep her asleep. As soon as I placed her in the stroller she suddenly awoke with like the meanest temper ever! I was shocked! It was like she woke up in the middle of a nightmare or something! So I started walking around the parking lot to maybe get her calmed down as she is just trying everything to squeeze her way out of the stroller and screaming! I thought for sure that someone was going to call the cops on me because it appeared as though this baby did not want anything to do with me and surely a baby wouldn't act this way toward her
mother! Luckily she calmed down and so I decided I'd put the stroller back into the car because I wasn't about to try and push a stroller and a cart if she wasn't going to sleep in it any way. I opened up the back and was reminded again that my car was still full from dinner.....so I pushed and shoved with one hand, Lydia in the other trying to make room to fit the stroller back in. Wasn't working! I know I looked like a complete idiot because I was struggling to hold Lydia and the stroller was so heavy in the other and I just could not get it back in! I couldn't put Lydia down in the middle of a busy parking lot. She would be hit for sure with how crazy and fast that little one is! Soon I saw an older couple approaching me. I was expecting them to make a comment about my arms being full and then continue on their way...
They did comment about my arms being full, but they didn't go on their way, the woman said, "Let me hold your baby, and my husband will get your things situated." Her husband then took the stroller from me and started maneuvering things in my car.
I told them how embarrassed I was, but they just said how much they understand and they had been in my situation before. We managed to get everything back in the car and I proceeded with my shopping. I am so grateful for wise and generous people. They reminded me what our mission here is about and that is helping one another. So often times I see someone who I think could maybe use a hand, but I am too afraid to approach and offer some help. This couple was Christlike. They recognized my struggle and offered a helping hand. I have made it my goal to make time to help someone if it looks as though they may need it.
