Fourth of July 2012

Watching the Dale City Parade
We didn't wake up super early. We really kind of took our time to get out of the house that morning. We made it there in time to see a few minutes of the parade, but it was so very very hot, we left soon after we even arrived! It was enough to let Lydia see the parade and gather a few pieces of candy.
We went home and got ready to go into Washington D.C. for the day of celebration.

Lydia really enjoyed feeling like she was a part of everything and helped out a lot.
Dad's building made a new little rule this year that parking at the building would only be open to those who were on "official business". So we were worried we would not be able to find any parking. Dad found a spot right outside his building on the side of the street. He left a note in his window just in case he was ticketed that read, "Randal K. Stoker Department of Agriculture, on Official Business." It was really funny when we found it. hahah

Lydia enjoyed those cherries! They really were delicious! Fun treat for the 4th of July.

These two (Rachel and Eric) rarely have any time alone when the little runt is any where in ear-shot.
It was really hot, no surprise, it was bearable only because there was a slight breeze and we had shade put up to cover us. We tried to pass the time by playing "Go Fish", "Match Up", and "Speed". Chris had to make a long trek to a CVS for formula. I filled the little container and everything just to find out that I had left it sitting right there on the counter top! Little Miles really is the most patient little guy ever. He drank some water to pass the time until Chris made it back. He was so good with the heat and everything too. He just chilled with any one who wanted to hold him, and if we were busy, he chilled in the stroller!
Grandma and Miles

It turned out to be a beautiful, HOT, but beautiful evening!

Lydia got Miles giggling so cute. It was fun for her and for Miles...and I guess everyone!

I couldn't help but take the opportunity to snap this beautiful scene! God Bless America, and God bless my little girl! Makes me think of Moroni and the Title of Liberty

Lydia with her Daddy. So glad I captured some of her excitement.

My sweet little ones and I. I have honestly been blessed with some dear children, and a life in a free country.

I couldn't get this shot quite right, but it was a good thought. "And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof to the night that our flag was still there!"

Miles with the Grandpa

Another beautiful picture of my little American
Our All American Family. Red cheeks and sweaty brows to prove the heat of the summer, but we had a great time.
Lydia and I actually discovered the spray hoses that the city provided for people to cool off! We pretty much drenched ourselves. It didn't make us look as attractive any more, but we were cooler and it was very refreshing! We had goodies (melons, grapes, cherries, sandwiches, and caramel corn). Watching Lydia jump around and cheer and just about explode with excitement as soon as the fireworks finally went off made the entire effort worth it! She certainly is an animated child and does not do well at hiding her feelings. We took a video of her during the show and it is great because it shows her enthusiasm and excitement. Miles hardly flinched at the sound of the fireworks! I thought for sure he wouldn't like them all that well (He doesn't like when Lydia yells at home...), but he didn't seem to be bothered at all with the loud fireworks. He watched the explosions in the sky with awe. It was quite adorable. I love those two little crazies!

Happy Fourth of July!

Oh I miss the 4th of July in D.C. (although I don't miss the heat). Look like you had fun. Your little family is so darling.
