On the Farm

The smell as we walked into the barn that housed the pigs and goats was somewhat refreshing, as awful as it was! Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been if my parents would have continued their life in Idaho as dairy farmers. I have been raised with a feeling of being a country girl only because my parents were farmers in their younger days and so I felt as though I fit into the country genre better than the city folk genre. There is nothing that awakens the soul like a walk in the early morning when the only sounds to be heard are birds softly whistling, a cow mooing, some bugs chirping, the wind through the tall grass, and your own thoughts sifting through your head. I have sometimes wished for the life that I might have known, but never got the chance. As pleasant my years have been, I can't help but think about our family's history.
Our trip to the farm was great. Mom reminisced about her days on the dairy and Lydia enjoyed looking at the animals, playing on the tractors and playing in the dirt. What a fun park!

somewhat disturbing and yet adorable!

the baby goats were the cutest. this poor little guy had a broken leg.

She has such a natural love for animals.

looking into the smokehouse where the smoking and curing of meat was done.

Yeah, farm life is hard to forget....I often wonder how my life and my children's lives would have ended up if we had stayed on the farm as well. I can't believe how long your hair has grown. I miss you all and you are all just as beautiful as you have always been.....
