Lydia's Cougar Run

Lydia ran her first race on October 8th, 2011. It was the Cougar Run for Homecoming. I thought she would love it and have a blast, and I still think she would have had it been at least 30 degrees warmer! We just happened to get a big cold front just that weekend! Before then it was beautiful and since then, it's been beautiful! We were bummed to say the least. But Lydia was a trooper though, the little gal ran in the 200 meter race in an age group of 1-4 year olds. Chris was waiting for us at the finish line, but poor Lydia wanted him to be running with her the whole time. I didn't know where he went and so I couldn't even tell her that he was waiting for us at the end. He runs with her (in the stroller) almost every day and he took her out to practice a couple of times at the track, so I can see why she wanted her daddy/coach there with her. As soon as we rounded the curve, Lydia just stopped altogether. She was cold and she couldn't find her daddy. Then he saw us, I motioned for him to come and as soon as she saw him she ran the rest of the way with Daddy by her side. It was fun to watch her run and I hope that next year we can have some more fun family races...with warmer weather.

Pre-Race Pep Talk

At the Starting Line

"Daddy!" "Where's my Daddy?"
I was so frustrated because he had just disappeared!

Last stretch! Go Lydia!

Just before our 5K started.
Lydia left after this with Kayla and Debbie because it was just too cold.
