Their is a Hari Krishna (Indian) Temple here in Spanish Fork, UT. Every year they celebrate equality through what is called the Festival of Colors. This is open to the public and it has grown over the past few years to be a HUGE attraction because it is so much fun! The temple is about five miles (or less...not quite sure) from our house. People were parking in the Mortuary parking lot and
walking from there to the Krishna Temple! The streets were completely backed up. We just hopped on our bikes and were there in no time it was great! We made it just in time because just minutes after we arrived and bought our colors (bags of powdered chalk), they ran out.
We joined the huge crowd and waited for the moment when everyone would open fire with handfuls of color. They had Indian dancers and singers performing and it was pretty neat. They did a count down from twenty and soon there was one HUGE cloud of color surrounding us! We could not see even five feet in front of us! Had to stay calm to breathe, but man it was a lot of fun! haha
We came out of the ruckus looking like this!
Here is a video of the event. Looks cool to see all of the colors go up together.
