Pioneer Day in Utah

In Utah, Pioneer Day, is celebrated as a state holiday. It's lots of fun. They do parades and fireworks and carnivals and rodeos... This past week we were able to go up to Matt and Kelly's for a day. Bountiful did a parade and a carnival and fireworks all on Thursday because Salt Lake did it on Friday, the 24th. So we went up and saw part of the parade, we had some yummy corn, and we saw a good firework show really close up. Lydia did well. She just laid on my lap and watched them. I covered her ears for the really loud ones and I could tell they made her a little nervous, but she was great.
Friday, Chris had to go to work, and so Lydia and I actually met up with one of my Young Women leaders from Arizona. She was visiting. We went all around Temple Square and then went and saw some more fireworks that night.

I really enjoyed walking around Temple Square, seeing the Joseph Smith movie in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, touring the Conference Center, visiting the old Tabernacle, and admiring the Christus. I should go up there more often. It was really uplifting for me actually. It was a great way to remember the pioneers on Pioneer Day and to be reminded of their hard work, dedication, loyalty, faith, and sacrafice. You look at the fruits of their labors, and it is a wonder that any one can question their goodness.

We'll have to have you guys come visit for the Bountiful fireworks sometime. We have a great spot to see them in our yard. :)
